Norwegian tenor Henrik Enger Holm is currently studying at Dutch National Opera Academy (Amsterdam, NL) under the tutelage of Professor Hanneke de Wit. He holds a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Arts from Royal Academy of Music (London, UK).
Henrik’s repertoire spans opera, oratorio and art song, with works by composers such as Bach, Handel, Mozart, Schubert, Donizetti and Fauré. He is particularly passionate about Scandinavian music, with works by the likes of Alfvén, Backer-Grøndahl, Grieg and Peterson-Berger.
Upcoming performances with DNOA include Fileno/La fedeltà premiata (Haydn) on tour with Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, Edoardo Milfort/La cambiale di matrimonio (Rossini) at Bredeweg Festival, as well as staged performances of Liebesliederwalzer and Neue Liebeslieder (Brahms), also on tour. Henrik will also appear as Evangelist/Matthäus-Passion (Telemann) with Margaretha Consort, as well as tenor soloist in Oratorio de Noël (Saint-Saëns), Petite messe solennelle (Rossini), Ich hatte viel Bekümmernis, BWV 21 and Christus, der ist mein Leben, BWV 95 (Bach).
Past operatic work include Bastien/Bastien und Bastienne (Mozart) at the Klassiek op het Amsteveld Festival, Telemaco/Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria (Monteverdi) and Singer #5/Transformations (Susa) with DNOA and Residentie Orkest, Nicolò/Querini (Sommerro) on tour with Arctic Philharmonic in Norway and Italy, Grover/The Wild Beast of the Bungalow and Eddie/Three Amputators (Peters & Vavrek) also with Arctic Philharmonic at the Oslo and Arctic Chamber Music Festivals, Secrecy, Autumn, Phoebus/The Fairy Queen (Purcell) under Laurence Cummings at the Royal Academy of Music, Peter Simple/Sir John in Love (Vaughan Williams) with British Youth Opera and Opera Holland Park and Gherardo/Gianni Schicchi (Puccini) with The Athenaeum Opera
Past concert work include Liebesliederwalzer (Brahms) at the Concertgebouw, soloist with The Netherlands Chamber Orchestra at Opera Forward Festival, soloist with Bach Collegium ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Harmoniemesse (Haydn) at the Sherborne Abbey Festival, as well as recitals throughout Norway, the UK and the Netherlands.
He was Highly Commended in Joan Chissell/Rex Stephens Schumann Lieder Prize (2022), received Second Prize in DNB Nasjonal Solistkonkuranse (2018) and competed in Kathleen Ferrier Society Bursary for Young Singers (2018).
Henrik started singing as a treble in the Norwegian National Opera Children’s Chorus and the Norwegian Broadcasting’s Boys’ Choir. Early training includes the Young Talent Program at the Barratt Due Institute of Music (Oslo, NO) and Accademia Europea di Firenze (Florence, IT).
